Plant-Based Practicum

The roots of yoga practice direct the practitioner to consider the philosophical aspects involved in our daily actions and habits. While Season One of Yalla Yoga unpacked āhimsa (non-violence) by way of the ethical practice of veganism, Season Two guides us in the practice of plant-based cooking and diet. Food is deeply connected to community, serving as a commonality and bond, bringing people together over a shared plate. Explore ways to satisfy yourself and others while committing to health and longevity (of all beings, everywhere). What do we do daily to nourish both our inner and outer environments? How do we enjoy and connect to community through plant-based food? How do we feel full and avoid relying on processed products? Whether you are beginning to approach meatless meals or looking to amplify your plant-based recipe knowledge, this course will provide kitchen hacks, waste-not practice hints, and delicious recipes to keep your relationship with food vibrant. While we will talk briefly on nutrition, we will focus on satiating our taste buds and our body’s base needs. By the end of this course, you will be able to identify what supports plant-based nutrition. We will outline what’s of special interest to those of us eating wholly plant-based and provide supplemental recipes so we know how to get what we need and enjoy it. We will have 3 cooking sessions in real time, you’ll learn how to stock a vegan pantry, and you’ll take away a beginning plant-based library for satisfying, go-to dishes for you and your family.
