Movement Medicine
Learn to move freely and powerfully and take charge of your life
Our first language was movement. Many of us have forgotten how to speak it. All of our issues come back to movement. Either a lack of it or a misplacement of it. By re-creating movement patterns in our bodies that are free and powerful, we can take charge of our lives.
My offering is to help you acknowledge and release movement patterns that are old, stuck and limiting your potential. Then, we create new movement patterns that allow you to directly access your freedom and power.
The basic stages of the Mentorship are as follows:
-
In this (usually first) stage of the Mentorship, we clarify WHERE the block or the “stuckness” is in your body and in your movement patterns. My job is to see where you are NOT moving so that we can go efficiently to the root of the old pattern, pain, or issue that is holding you back.
-
In this second stage, we create NEW easy and enjoyable movement practices that create SPACE for the block to dislodge. I will pull from various and varying modalities to design movement patterns for you that you will then practice for the week. While they will be new and require some amount of effort, it is crucial that they be also enjoyable—otherwise you’ll just be creating new stucknesses in your body.
-
This is the part where YOU come in. In this stage, the bulk of the effort is you actually showing up for yourself and doing the practice. We will decide together the frequency, duration and structure of your practice for the week, which will be based on a theme and/or new movement pattern.
-
This stage won’t necessarily happen chronologically. This is where the original block or stuckness that we located earlier in the Mentorship is dislodged, dissolved and released from the body. It can be accompanied with tears, screams or a silent bittersweet epiphany. We see the PAIN that we used to hold onto (whether consciously or not), acknowledge it, say thank you and goodbye.
-
In this final stage, we HONOR that this is an ongoing process, a total forever procedure of doing and undoing. We realize that this is the beginning of a (re)commitment to our own sovereignty and our own choice-making in our lives. We feel viscerally what it is to be radically responsible for our lives. We see that we have agency and a direct effect on our freedom and power.
Meet Your Mentor
After fifteen years of simultaneously riding two separate paths (Yoga and Dance), they finally, organically and auspiciously merged into one. Movement Medicine was born.
Movement Medicine is a synthesis of Yoga philosophy and all of the movement and stillness practices that I’ve embodied—among them, Gaga, Contact Improv, Ecstatic Dance, Butoh, Vipassana meditation, Pilates, Modern/Contemporary dance, ballet, Hip Hop, choreography and composition, Feldenkrais, and Integral anatomy.
Movement Medicine is my life practice, my temple, my devotion to sovereignty. It has provided me with a reliable and portable way to access my freedom, creativity and power. My aim in the Mentorship program is to show you that there is more wisdom in your movement than you can imagine. Yalla!

More about the Mentorship Program
The Mentorship program unfolds over the course of eight online sessions, each lasting about 75 minutes. The entire process usually lasts 2-3 months, but sometimes requires more time. In our online sessions, we will talk, explore, discover, practice and MOVE. The online sessions make up the bulk of our time together and establish a self practice of setting up your literal space, in your own home, so that when our Mentorship ends, it will be easier to continue on your own.
I offer my professional eye to address movement patterns that are restricting and limiting you. I will then design movement practices for you to play and work with until we meet again for our next session. The basic idea is that when we move in new, complex and continuous ways, much of our stuckness and pain leaves the body and makes more space for the next version of you—the one you came into the Mentorship desiring and knowing in your heart was possible.
Other important components of the Mentorship include ongoing WhatsApp communication and support, personalized assignments, accountability check-ins, and the collaborative development of a Movement Practice Library. The Library will be a Google Drive where you can access all replays of our sessions, additional resources and practices, links, aetc, that remains yours after our work together is done.
