Prānāyāma: Classical with a Twist
This weekly 60-min LIVE class will focus on prānāyāma, one of the eight limbs of Patañjali’s Aṣṭāṅga Yoga System. The program will root the work in classical origins, looking to yogic texts to discover the initial mentions of prānāyāma and, later, the codification of its practices. We will begin with basic foundations, exploring and establishing a felt-sense of breath awareness, learning to breathe consciously and completely. Each class will then concentrate on a classical prānāyāma. We will introduce ourselves to the prānāyāma’s beginnings and experience the practice as written. We will then see how the practice has been re-contextualized and apply the technique with a modern retelling. Each session will be followed by practical homework, creating an intimacy with your own subtle nature and integrating the roots of the technique with the ways they have blossomed over time.
This course is guided by Lindsay.
