Virtual Shala: Mentorship Program
In the Mysore-style Ashtanga system, the relationship between teacher and student is vital. In the wake of the pandemic, we are all feeling in need of deeper connection. Some of us are wanting the return to shared practice spaces, others are wanting personal guidance. This intensive program is both. While we will conduct our work online, it is the individual attention that is the key to unlocking the door to a personal yoga practice that is substantial, sustainable, and ours for good.
The Virtual Shala Mentorship Program is a four month commitment. Through twice weekly guided practice, personally-curated audio lessons for each student to be practiced daily, ongoing 1:1 private work, monthly group conferences, and reliable access to the teacher, this program re-contextualizes and upholds the value of the traditional guru-śiṣya (teacher-student) relationship.
Whether you are new to the Mysore-style Ashtanga system, or have been engaged in it for some time, you can expect to exit this course with a solid bedrock upon which to continue your practice with knowledge and confidence. You’ll be able to cancel any dependence on the gym/studio, the membership and the expensive yoga clothes. You will be celebrated, supported and guided to know how to practice on your own.
Some prior experience in Virtual Shala and/or the Mysore-style Ashtanga system is encouraged but not necessary.
