Chanting: Deep Floss
This course will embody the space where the Bhakti and Jñāna marga overlap. Bhakti celebrates the act of devotion, where Jñāna reveres the pursuit of knowledge. Both paths require dedication and enthusiasm. Through the lens of Jñāna, we will establish a foundational understanding of the meaning of various mantra. With the help of the harmonium, we will practice chanting them with joy and sincerity.
This chanting practice is bound to touch places in the body that years of āsana cannot. The literal vibrations that emanate throughout our physical form “shake off” blockages that can cause disease. More subtly, the meaning imbued in the mantra takes the practice a step further and acts like a deep flossing of the energetic body. This 30-min practice is both powerful and efficient and can reroute what might have been an otherwise crappy morning.
In the spirit of Yalla Yoga’s ethos of re-contextualization, we will consider the process of “making the mantra ours” and see what all this has to do with our personal practice of yoga.
No prior chanting experience necessary.
