Over the course of seven weeks, engage with the practices of yoga through the eight limbs.

The backbone of this 75-hr course will be Patañjali’s Ashtanga system, aka, the Eight Limbed Path. We will draw directly from the source of the Yoga Sūtra. Our work will be both practical and creative. By the end of the seven weeks together, our aim is for you to have a confident, holisitic and dependable yoga practice. While this course is designed for those who already have an established yoga practice, it is open to anybody who is interested in moving deeper into themselves.

We will utilize transliterations and translations to better understand the original Sanskrit text in order to infer its meaning, so that we may recontextualize the teachings. The purpose of recontextualizing is to appropriately and intelligently apply the teachings to our contemporary lives. Without this root work, our yoga practice lacks depth and integrity. While we will extrapolate from text, our work will be interactive and embodied.

The course has three components:

  1. LIVE Zoom sessions

  2. Pre-recorded sessions

  3. Peer collaboration

We will meet LIVE on Zoom up to six times weekly, depending on your time zone. Four of these will be āsana-based practices. The other two (Study Sessions) will be discussion-based with applied theory through practicable exercises. All Zoom sessions will be available for Replay. One pre-recorded session—designed to be listened to like a podcast but can also be viewed—will be delivered to you weekly via email and can be engaged with at your own pace. The collaborative component with fellow students is optional and will happen via shared documents on Google Drive, email, Zoom, WhatsApp, and other communication applications.

We strongly encourage you to attend as many LIVE sessions as you can, because much of our exploration will be guided by who shows up, which questions are asked, and the group’s curiosity. Still, it is possible to do most of this work at your own pace. If you do not wish or are unable to participate in the peer collaboration component, this course can be fully self-paced.

The investment for this 75-hr, seven-week course, is $1,108.00 USD. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate as well as education credits from the Yalla Yoga School. These credits can be applied toward further certification. In addition, these 75 hours are accredited as Continuing Education (CE) hours under the Yoga Alliance.

Payment Plan options available upon request. Email us at study@yalla-yoga.com with any questions.
