Aṣṭāṅga: Roots and Branches
This weekly 60-min LIVE class will focus on Patañjali’s Aṣṭāṅga Yoga System. We will spend time looking at each of the eight limbs (aka ‘ashtanga’), and see how they work together as an integrated and cohesive approach to modern life. As Western practitioners, we often equate yoga with āsana (physical postures) and that’s where it may end for many of us. But āsana is just one of the eight limbs. When we learn that the postures are a relatively small part of the larger yoga practice, we cannot help but be in awe. Learning about the foundations of our yoga practice is like falling in love all over again. We will spend time exploring each limb, which will be followed by practical homework to help us integrate and experience the teachings in our individual lives. By the end of the course, your approach to your practice will have fundamentally shifted. This course will infuse your already existing āsana practice with context, substance and understanding, so that you may continue to fall in love for the long haul.
Each class will include:
Theory
Discussion
Practice
Q&A
